Description
Last night my sister came back to Monterey and brought me this distressed little Clam shell. She said I brought this to you because I know that you can write something "special" for it....this is what I wrote:
One Happy Clam
By Joyce Dickens ©2017
Thanks to that redheaded gal that put me in her pocket
And took me home with her to her beach house on the
Coast of central Cal
I’ve not had an easy life as you can plainly tell
I’m not your everyday, normal beautiful Clamshell
There have been predators of the sea both human and “brotherly”
Regardless of their origin, they all wanted a piece of me
I’ve had good days and a few bad
though most my wounds
have now healed, at least a tad
I have wrinkles, lines and am a bit scarred
But I am a survivor no holds barred
I will always love the ocean
The plants, the fish, my fellow shells
And most of all its soothing motion
The ocean has always rocked me to sleep at night
And gently nudged me awake each morning
To my delight
Come rain or shine, I smile with joy to see each new day
I always wonder if I will go home with a tourist
or a “local” resident today
To my delight I went home with a local
a tiny little redheaded gal very who is very vocal
I have a new home now, and despite my unnatural look
I am happy, very much loved and content in my brand new little nook
I am One Happy Clam!

I love your story! A happy clam indeed! And I am too, having read it! This is wonderful Joyce! l/f!

The elegant contrasts between the radiant clam with its subdued background creates an eye-catching composition, Joyce.
