Description
Steve Ballard, the chainsaw-wielding creator of Itsyville, carves to reveal tree spirits.
If you thought you were looking at playful tree houses when you drove past the Toro Cafe on Highway 68, think again. That was art. That was Itsyville.
Itsyville no longer exists on Highway 68, however when I shot this image back in February, 2006, it was a hot spot on Highway 68 between Laguna Seca and Salinas. I shot several hundred images of Ittsyville and just came across them again this past week.

Thank you to Steve Blanchard for reaching out to me today 01/05/2023; I am pleased that you have found my photograph of Ittsyville. I absolutely enjoyed my time visiting your amazing village and missed it after it had been moved. Joyce

Joyce, This unique capture caught my eye, I had to do a double-take and read your description to understand what I was seeing. It is a blessing you were able to preserve this fantastic artwork for future generations to enjoy! L&F

What a magical place he created! I hope it's just moved and not completely gone! Marvelous shot Joyce! l/f!
Joyce Dickens replied:
Thanks Meg; I researched him and found out that he has a shop in Sand City, CA which is on the Monterey Peninsula...kind of ironic as his location was only a couple of miles from where I used to live and I didn't know that he was there :-))
